Stan Romanek Sentenced to 2 Years in Halfway House

Alleged alien abductee Stan Romanek (pictured left), who was found guilty of possessing child pornography last August, was sentenced yesterday to serve two years in a halfway house.  Romanek will also be on probation for a ten year period and is required to register as a sex offender.

Romanek was arrested by police in 2014 when a search warrant discovered hundreds of images of child pornography on Romanek's laptop computer.  Romanek entered a not guilty plea and the case went to trial resulting in him being found guilty of a single charge of possessing child pornography.

Romanek's wife initially announced they would be "bring UFOlogy into the courtroom" after claiming the laptop containing the child pornography images had been hacked as part of a scheme to discredit Romanek's UFO and alien claims.  However, neither UFOs nor aliens were used by Roamnek's attorney in his defense.

Today at 11AM (PST), a federal judge sentenced bogus psychic Sean David Morton to 72 months in federal prison for his part in a tax scheme in which he was found guilty of falsifying tax documents, filing false tax returns while victimizing people for tens of thousands of dollars in a straw-man redemption scheme, and defrauding the IRS out of nearly $500,000.00.

Morton, who gained notoriety through the late night radio show Coast To Coast AM and through new age/UFO seminars for his wild predictions and UFO tales, was convicted on over 50 felony counts in federal court in early April.  Morton boasted he was "simply the best" when it came to making accurate psychic predictions, yet he never foresaw the coming of his own demise.

Federal agents originally arrested Morton and his wife in February 2016 as they disembarked from a conspiracy convention that took place aboard a cruise ship - ironically, one of the charges against The Mortons was conspiracy.  The Mortons were released after posting bond and later went to trial in federal court.

Prior to their arrest, the IRS contacted The Mortons on more than one occasion advising them the paperwork and forms they were filing were illegal and to cease filing them.  When The Mortons continued to file false bonds and paperwork in spite of repeated warnings from the IRS, a federal grand jury convened and indicted The Mortons on numerous felony counts.  While prosecutors filed 56 charges against each of The Mortons, they had the option of filing in excess of 100 charges against each Sean David Morton and Melissa Ann Morton.

Federal agents later served a search warrant on Morton's apartment and seized computers, mobile phones, and documents among other items.

During the trial, Morton represented himself and filed a myriad of bizarre filings in an attempt to disrupt proceedings, including proclaiming himself judge of his own court.

"The court is familiar with the multitude of nonsensical pleadings [Morton] filed and stated in Court throughout the course of this criminal case, which has not abated since his conviction. Morton was advised several times by the presiding judge concerning his outbursts in court and his repeatedly calling IRS agents "jack booted thugs".  A jury took two hours to deliberate and return guilty verdicts on all counts against Morton and his wife.

After his conviction, prosecutors from the Department of Justice were seeking an 87 month prison term calling Morton "a serial fraudster."  Morton was scheduled to be sentenced in June but failed to appear in court as ordered.  A warrant for Morton's arrest was immediately issued.

Federal agents began surveillance on Morton's apartment, later spotting Morton's car parked at a nearby Domino's Pizza.  A short time later, federal agents observed Morton walking out of the business wearing a hat, sunglasses, a hooded jacket with the hood up, carrying a black computer bag.  Morton got back into his car and drove away.  It is unknown what kind, if any pizza Morton may have ordered.

Federal agents continued following Morton where he next stopped at the Fairmount Private School in Anaheim, California.  Agents reported being able to see Morton in the building as Morton repeatedly looked through a window, but did not elaborate on why Morton was there.  It appears the agents were waiting for what they felt was the best tactically safe place and time to arrest Morton, and with good reason; Morton's wife had told federal agents that Morton had a firearm.

On June 21st, agents from the U.S. Marshall's Service observed Morton's car parked in the driveway of his apartment and moved in to take Morton into custody.  Agents entered the apartment only to find Morton's wife inside and she denied knowing his whereabouts.

Melissa Morton had been allowed to remain out of custody on a release agreement which included her allowing federal authorities to monitor her cellphone and computer activity along with her agreeing to have no contact with Morton.  She also agreed to pay $10,000.00 if she violated any of the terms of her release.

While on the run from authorities, Morton appeared on a live streaming YouTube program.  During the broadcast, Morton called the prosecutors and judge in his case "the biggest gang of criminals you're ever gonna' see." He also stated no warrant had been issued for his arrest and he was working on addressing legal issues relating to his case.

Morton made the baffling and unsubstantiated claim that the federal government profited over $417,000,000.00 by prosecuting him in a "kangaroo court."  Federal prosecutors noted this YouTube appearance in Morton's updated sentencing recommendation.

All of Morton's disjointed and babbling appeals were denied well before the YouTube broadcast and he had brought an end to any legal options he might have had because he had not been sentenced.  In order for an appeal to be considered, a case has to be completed including a defendant having been sentenced.  Morton claims to be a "legal and constitutional expert", but he does not have a law degree nor is he a licensed attorney.

Morton said during this same program that he would be returning to his Internet radio show soon, and undoubtedly Morton intended to use his status as a federal fugitive in an attempt to bolster his show.  Morton appeared on another streaming Internet program where he mocked the government by jokingly saying "oh no, they found me" while he laughed.

The following day, August 21st, federal agents followed Morton's wife to a hotel in Desert Hot Springs, California where she was meeting with Morton to view the eclipse.  Morton was taken into custody by the hotel's pool while Melissa Morton was nowhere to be found.  Federal agents intercepted Melissa Morton as she attempted to elude them by driving out of the hotel parking lot.  The arrest brought Morton's 61 day run as a fugitive to an end and both of The Mortons were lodged in jail without bail.

For her part in the tax scheme, Melissa Morton was sentenced today to 24 months in federal prison.  Melissa Morton helped to move and conceal funds she and Sean David Morton fraudulently received from the government after they filed false tax returns multiple times in order to circumvent the IRS computer system.  She also helped to prepare and notarize false tax documents and filed false tax returns.

The Mortons moved quickly to hide nearly $500,000 they received from the IRS through a fraudulent tax return.  Melissa Morton withdrew $70,000 in cash, opened other bank accounts to funnel funds into, and leased a BMW automobile.  Melissa Morton later lied to investigators about her bank accounts.  The Mortons filed multiple false tax returns attempting to obtain millions in fraudulent returns even though Sean David Morton has no verifiable income.

The Mortons charged people thousands of dollars claiming they could eliminate anyone's personal debt through a bonding process.  The Mortons received a letter from the California Tax Franchise Board advising the bonding process they were selling was not legitimate along with warnings from the IRS.

In spite of these warnings and knowing the process did not work, The Mortons continued selling the bonds to people including a woman who paid $2500.00 for The Mortons to erase her massive student loan debt, and an elderly couple who paid The Mortons $10,000 to erase their overwhelming debt.  In both cases, the bond process did not work and The Mortons refused to refund their money.

In 2010, Morton and his wife were sued by the SEC in a case where The Mortons defrauded $6,000,000 from investors in what SEC officials called a "psychic scheme" where Morton claimed he could use his alleged psychic powers to predict the stock market.  The SEC investigation found very little of the money had actually been invested and The Mortons had diverted investor funds into personal accounts and shell companies.  The SEC also showed that none of Morton's stock market predictions were true nor accurate and Morton's claim of a prestigious financial firm accrediting the investment fund was also false.

The Mortons were ordered to repay nearly $12,000,000 in fines and restitution and were restrained from engaging in trading again.  The Mortons were sued by some of the investors including an elderly woman who lost her life savings in the scheme.

In 2015, The Mortons filed for bankruptcy but their application was denied after bankruptcy officers discovered The Mortons had lied under oath about their financial interests including claiming they paid for everything in cash and did not have bank accounts.  In spite of The Mortons claiming to be nearly destitute and homeless, they still managed to have season USC Trojans football tickets.  The Mortons were also charging people thousands of dollars in their debt redemption scheme and Morton was charging hundreds of dollars for psychic readings.

Morton was exposed in 2001 when ufowatchdog.com published its investigation, The Shameless Psychic and his Prophecy of Lies which exposed Morton's educational background, psychic and other claims as false.   In 2003, Morton attempted to sue ufowatchdog.com claiming the investigation was untrue and libelous.  After failing to prove a single claim in court, Morton lost and was ordered to pay $16,000 in legal fees to ufowatchdog.com.  Morton was directly invited to refute a single claim in the ufowatchdog.com investigation and he failed to do so.

Sean David Morton will be released from federal prion in 2023 and Melissa Ann Morton will be released in 2019.  During the sentencing hearing, Morton  spoke for roughly forty minutes telling the judge he was a sovereign citizen.  Morton told the judge it was a mistake that he represented himself in the trial and asked to be assigned legal counsel.  The judge denied Morton's request for representation and told Morton he explained the legal options available and the dangers of representing himself prior to trial.

The Mortons were both ordered to pay restitution, were ordered to not engage in any financial or debt relief, and will serve five years parole.

Gaia-Maussan Mummy Comes Unraveled

Looks like another "alien body" has bitten the dust.  A while back, the paid subscription website Gaia.com along with notorious UFO hoax promoter Jaime Maussan were advertising they had found what was described as a possible alien mummy.  Gaia.com made short work of producing some slick commercials to build the drama of this supposed discovery with many of those commercials running via Facebook ads for their monthly subscription service.

Well, the folks at Gaia.com and Jaime Maussan shouldn't be too quick to pat themselves on the backs just yet.  It looks like the DNA results are making the rounds everywhere except on Gaia.com or any of Maussan's social media.  What is making the rounds on social media is the following image purportedly from the lab performing the DNA analysis on the Nazca mummy:

This looks to be a single page from a forty-two page report and this page clearly states that a bone sample taken from the hand of the mummy was examined and found to be "a 100% match to Homo sapiens (human)."

There you have it in very plain words; the mummy is human.  End of story.  It should be, but now Gaia.com is saying the results were 99% in an attempt to muddy the waters so they can further attempt to propel this story in an effort to hook more subscribers.  It was predictable that Gaia would put some kind of spin on this to try to keep this story alive.  If Gaia.com was dedicated to the truth they make their mantra, then why have they not released the full DNA report?

Nothing Gaia.com has put forth to date proves this mummy is anything but and even that's a maybe.  We've seen a lot of slick social media ads, a few well produced videos, a lot of talk, and very little in terms of scientifically verifiable evidence.

"Time for Truth," at least this is how Starworks USA is advertising their symposium with scheduled speakers set to talk all about the Nazca mummy including Jaime Maussan.  Curious if they'll be informing the public about the results showing this "alien mummy" DNA came back as 100% human.  Probably not, after all these people make good money from this when they're able to hook a lot of gullible people in at $300 a pop and more.  At least you get an "all you can eat taco buffet", because, well, classy.

Morton Facing More Time in Prison

Prosecutors in the Sean David Morton tax fraud case have recommended to a judge that Morton be sentenced to 109 months in federal prison; prosecutors had previously asked for 87 months.

Morton was convicted in April on over 50 felony counts in federal court for a tax scheme he and his wife had perpetrated.  Morton failed to show for his sentencing and became a wanted fugitive spending 61 days on the run before he and his wife were apprehended by federal agents at a hotel in Desert Hot Springs, California where the couple was staying to watch the solar eclipse on August 21st.

Melissa Morton was not a fugitive at the time of her arrest, but she had violated a release agreement in which she was not to have any contact with her fugitive husband pending her criminal sentencing.

The additional 22 months in prison prosecutors are asking for is due to Morton failing to appear for his sentencing.  Prosecutors also noted in a recently filed sentencing recommendation Morton's appearance in a video with Kerry Cassidy of Project Camelot where Morton claimed there was no warrant issued for his arrest and claimed there was no evidence to convict him.  In the video Morton called prosecutors in the case and the presiding judge "the biggest gang of criminals you're ever gonna' see."

Morton also claimed the federal government made over $417,000,000.00 from his criminal case through investment bonds, though Morton has not offered any evidence of this extremely wild claim.  To hear Morton ramble on more, you can see the video here.

Morton and his wife are scheduled to be sentenced this coming Monday, September 18th at 11AM (PST).  Morton's wife is facing 78 months in federal prison.  The Mortons remain lodged without bail with prosecutors citing they both pose a significant flight risk.

Sentencing Date Set for Bunk Psychic Morton

Sean David Morton is scheduled for sentencing Sept. 18th at 11AM and remains lodged in the San Bernadino jail. While prosecutors recommended an 87 month prison term, Morton is likely to receive more time for failing to appear at his original sentencing in June. His wife and co-defendant Melissa Ann Morton is scheduled to be sentenced the following day, Sept. 19th the same date.

Morton's Run As Fugitive Comes to Predictable End

Sean David Morton, the bunk psychic who gained notoriety thanks to late night radio host Art Bell and the Coast To Coast AM show, was taken into custody on Monday (same day as the eclipse) by federal agents from the U.S. Marshal's Service.  Also taken into custody was Morton's wife Melissa Ann Morton.  The arrest ended Sean David Morton's run as a fugitive for the past sixty-one days.

The Morton's were both convicted in early April 2017 on over 50 felony counts involving fraud and conspiracy stemming from their involvement in a tax scheme that netted them thousands of dollars from victims in a straw-man/redemption bonding scheme in which The Mortons told people they could erase anyone's debt.  The Mortons also obtained a nearly $500,000 fraudulent tax refund from the IRS.  When the IRS discovered the mistake and went to retrieve the funds, The Mortons moved quickly to hide the money, withdrew $70,000 in cash, bought a new BMW, and later lied to investigators about bank accounts involved in obtaining and hiding the funds.

Sean David Morton was scheduled to be sentenced on June 19, 2017 but did not appear as ordered by the court, resulting in a warrant being issued for Morton's arrest for failure to appear.  During his time as a fugitive, Morton appeared on a YouTube show claiming he had left the country and was in Iceland.  But several things in the video led ufowatchdog.com to believe Morton was still in the California area and this information was passed on to the Department of Justice.  It was also during this same YouTube interview that Morton claimed there was not a warrant for his arrest.

Morton's co-defendant Melissa Ann Morton (pictured right) was the subject of a conditional release agreement prior to her criminal sentencing next month.  That release agreement included the stipulation she have no contact with Sean David Morton.  The same release agreement also had the condition that federal agents could monitor Melissa Morton's computer and mobile phone.

In spite of the release agreement, documents show Melissa Morton had been in contact with Sean David Morton.  Melissa Morton was arrested on Monday at approximately noon according to records obtained by ufowatchdog.com stating she had been arrested for "violation of pretrial release" and "non-compliance with condition of supervision; contact with fugitive co-defendant".  Sean David Morton was arrested approximately thirty-minutes prior to his wife - it was unclear if they were together when the arrests occurred.

The Mortons were arrested at a hotel in Desert Hot Springs, California on Monday when agents from the IRS and U.S. Marshal's Service tracked Melissa Ann Morton to the location after discovering she'd be meeting with Sean David Morton, both were taken into custody without incident.

The Mortons appeared before a federal magistrate on Tuesday and both were ordered held without bond.  Melissa Morton's criminal sentencing for her conviction in the tax scheme is scheduled for September 19th.  A date for Sean David Morton's sentencing in the tax scheme has yet to be set.

The government has asked that The Mortons be remanded to custody due to them both posing a significant flight risk.  On Tuesday a judge ordered that Sean David Morton be held in custody.  It is unknown when a hearing on Melissa Morton's custody will be held, but she is likely to also be held in custody.  With Melissa Morton having violated her release agreement she must pay $10,000 as she had been released on a signature bond in which the person being released agrees to pay a certain amount if the conditions of the release are violated.

Both Sean David Morton and Melissa Ann Morton were initially lodged at the Federal Metro Detention Center in Los Angeles, but have since been moved to the San Bernardino jail pending their next court appearances.

Verdict Reached in Stan Romanek Criminal Trial

Alleged alien abductee Stan Romanek's criminal trial concluded and the jury began deliberations on Monday.

Earlier this afternoon the jury found Romanek guilty on one count of sexual exploitation of a child.  Romanek was found not guilty on a second charge of distributing child pornography.

The Department of Homeland Security was investigating a larger child pornography case and provided Loveland, Colorado police with information about Romanek allegedly possessing and distributing child pornography.

Loveland police arrested Romanek on February 13, 2014, charging him with possessing and distributing child porn.  A search warrant served on Romanek's home resulted in police seizing a laptop computer on which  over 300 images of child pornography and video were reportedly discovered.  The laptop had Romanek's name engraved on it.

According to an affidavit filed by police, during the execution of the search warrant, Romanek admitted he had seen child pornography on his computer but was unsure of how the images got onto his computer.  Romanek and his wife claimed they were the target of hackers because of what they supposedly know about UFOs and aliens.

Romanek pleaded not guilty and the case went to trial before a jury.

While Romanek's wife, Lisa, publicly stated that they would "bring UFOlogy into the courtroom", Romanek's defense attorney did not use UFOs or aliens as part of the defense.  Romanek's attorney argued many people had access to Romanek's computer including his wife and step-son.

The case was not without drama.  The trial was delayed for over a month while prosecutors provided Romanek's attorney with new evidence they discovered.  A former Loveland police officer was accused of tipping off Roamanek about the pending search warrant.  Romanek's wife spoke before the Loveland, Colorado city council about the lead detective in the case. The detective leading the investigation was discovered to be on a Brady List kept by the prosecutor's office.

The Brady List stems from a precedent setting US Supreme Court case known as Brady v. Maryland.  During that case, prosecutors charging a man with murder failed to provide evidence showing the defendant had not committed the murder.  The US Supreme Court ruling states that prosecutors and police must turn over all evidence to a defendant including exculpatory evidence.  Exculpatory evidence includes knowing when a police officer has been dishonest or has any credibility issues.

In this instance, Loveland police detective Brian Koopman was placed on the district attorney's Brady List after he was accused of lying during a murder case.  Koopman faced a felony charge of influencing a public official in the matter, but was found not guilty.  Koopman remained employed by Loveland police and his name was placed on the Brady List after the district attorney's office determined he had lied during an investigation.  Koopman was also sued for allegedly targeting a man for manufacturing meth, but the meth turned out to be sugar.

Just prior to the trial, Netflix released a documentary about Romanek's claims of being abducted by extraterrestrials entitled Extraordinary: The Stan Romanek Story.  The company that produced the documentary, J3Films, sold it to Netflix for an undisclosed sum.

The documentary was completed about a month prior to Romanek being arrested and was supposed to stream online via pay-per-view.  The film was not released as scheduled and it is likely that Romanek's arrest was the cause of the film's release being postponed.

Roanek is currently free on bond and his sentencing is scheduled for October 19th, 2017 at 3:30PM.  The prison term for possessing child pornography in Colorado is 4 to 12 years.

Morton Appeal Denied Again

Wanted federal fugitive and bunk psychic Sean David Morton has continued to elude authorities after he was convicted on over 50 felony crimes including fraud and conspiracy.  Morton was scheduled to be sentenced on June 19th and prosecutors were recommending an 87 month prison sentence, but Morton failed to appear in court as ordered.

Morton, who claims to be a "legal and constitutional expert" had filed a litany of rambling legal motions with the court, all of which were denied.  Morton does not possess a law degree nor is he licensed anywhere in the United States to practice law.  Morton also claims to have a Ph.D. in therapeutic psychology, but the organization from which he received his degree is not accredited.

In one motion Morton asked for more time to file a response to an order set forth by the court sometime in May after his conviction.  Recently made available on an electronic court document system, the order on Morton asking for more time via the appellate court was denied.  The reasoning for the denial?  

The court is unable to move forward because while Morton may have been convicted, he was never sentenced.  Without Morton being sentenced, he has no grounds to file an appeal because of precedence set by a case known as Midland Asphalt Corp. v. United States, which essentially states that an appellate court cannot decide on a case when it is not completed - i.e.: convicted and sentenced.  So, you can't complain about how bad the dessert tastes when you're still in the middle of dinner and don't know what's for dessert.  Bad analogy? Probably, but you get the point.

Remember, avoid anyone self professing to be a "legal and constitutional expert".

Former MUFON State Director Resigns, Cites Cult Leader Involvement

Veteran UFO researcher, investigator and author James E. Clarkson has published a lengthy and well worth reading article on why he has completely withdrawn from MUFON.  Among the reasons cited, Clarkson in particular mentions that known cult leader and channeler J.Z. Knight is a member of MUFON's inner circle.  Yes, you read correctly, channeler.

For those unaware of J.Z. Knight, she's a cult leader living in Washington State who claims to channel an entity she calls Ramtha.  Problem is with a lot of Knight's claims is she can't prove any of them and the claims she claim are made by Ramtha have been scientifically shown to be completely inaccurate.  At one of Knight's school, Ramtha's School of Enlightment, two staff members were charged with repeatedly sexually assaulting a 15 year student.

MUFON has been falling apart and losing credible members for years now and many will recallthe most recent upheaval with John Ventre's racist antics.  Recently, MUFON had its symposium in Las Vegas on the subject of the alleged secret space program and featured the likes of nut job Corey Goode.  Of course, Richard Dolan appeared and talked about the implications of a secret space program.  I don't think it any secret that Dolan was paid to appear.  Perhaps Dolan could take a lesson from Clarkson and grow a spine along with some integrity.

For those unfamiliar with the latest craze being sold by the usual UFO morons, there are those who claim the United States government has a fleet of spaceships and is cruising around the galaxy in them.  Then there are the likes of Corey Goode who outlandishly claims he's been to Mars as part of this secret program - of course, he has absolutely zero proof to back anything he says, but he'll gladly sell you a ticket at the door to tell you all about it.  This is the same Corey Goode who is part of Gaia.com which is fast becoming the leader in Internet sensationalist bullshit.

WITH REGRET – WHY I MUST LEAVE MUFON COMPLETELY

I am addressing this letter to all MUFON State Directors and Members of the Board. I joined MUFON in 1987 in Washington State where I have lived since 1977 when I was honorably discharged from the Army. Recently I resigned from my position as Washington State MUFON Director for reason that will be explained. Chase Kloetzke asked me if I would remain as an FI, STAR Team member and investigator for the Special Assignments Team. Hesitantly, I agreed to remain out of respect for her. Shortly after that, I heard about the MUFON Inner Circle as part of the disclosures from Jan Harzan when he was interviewed by Kevin Randle. For the reasons explained below I believe I must leave MUFON altogether.

Since I am certain that most of you know very little about me, I will tell you that after I arrived in Washington state on 1975, I completed a 20-year career as a police sergeant with numerous assignments such as fatal accident team supervisor and detective sergeant. I have also spent 2 years as a child abuse detective and 10 years as a state fraud investigator. On a parallel path, I have had a lifelong commitment to trying to explore the UFO Mystery.

Given the situation that I am addressing, where I live is extremely relevant to my decision to quit MUFON. I live in Olympia in Thurston County in Washington State; Olympia is 19 miles from Yelm, WA, the location of the world headquarters of the cult leader, JZ Knight AKA Ramtha, who is arguably the richest and most powerful member of the MUFON Inner Circle. I am painfully aware of all the negative consequences that may arise from the influence of those in the MUFON Inner Circle.

I did not know JZ Knight’s role in MUFON until after I heard the Kevin Randle interview of Jan Harzan, not long after I resigned as a MUFON State Director. Given the power and influence of JZ Knight, and not knowing how much influence she truly has in MUFON, I may be taking a risk by daring to voice a concern about her Inner Circle status. At the same time, I will not have my reputation in this field compromised by affiliating with a rich and powerful cult leader who is now a member of the MUFON Inner Circle.

Right after the recent resignation of another MUFON State Director and charter member, Rich Hoffman, I resigned my directorship because of long-term burnout and a growing sense that MUFON as a serious UFO investigative organization no longer exists. I suspect that I am not the only State Director suffering from a deep malaise while watching MUFON become an income-generating enterprise. The triggering event for me was the lack of an immediate dismissal of John Ventre from his State Directorship after his racist outburst on Facebook, or at least an immediate statement that Ventre’s comments were not acceptable coming from a leader of MUFON.

Because of what I am about to explain, remaining in MUFON in any capacity is morally unacceptable. Simply, I will not place my reputation as an Investigator and Researcher into the hands of JZ Knight or other mysterious people who have purchased a position of influence at the highest levels of MUFON. And from the Kevin Randle interview I have learned that John Ventre is still an Inner Circle member. He may also be appointed to any number of key positions in the future. Before you pass judgment on my reaction to the disclosure that JZ Knight is a member of the MUFON elite, please consider that you do not live in her immediate shadow. You are not privy to the local news that I am.

I communicated directly with Rich Hoffman after he had said his goodbyes, and he told me that he was worn out trying to seek better treatment of field investigators and state directors by the leaders of MUFON; he said he was just worn out from trying. If you want the specifics, then you must ask him. I also resigned because I have had the sense for a long time that no matter how often I promoted MUFON over many years during numerous UFO lectures, in my books, lectures, and elsewhere, I would remain “Unacknowledged.” I don’t pretend I am better than anyone else, but any work horse in harness would like to be given an apple occasionally and be patted on the head.

I think I am not a lot different than other State Directors who devote hundreds of hours to running on the CMS Hamster Wheel, who spend their own money, time and effort to promote MUFON to the public. One of the criticisms I have of MUFON is that if you are not a Jaime Maussan or a Steven Greer, or someone with money to donate, then you are just one of the cogs in the machine. You do your job until you wear out and then you are replaced. Even State agencies as bureaucratic as they are, will give you a certificate and a pin for longevity.

For the last 9 years I have been the Washington State Director. I have personally investigated over 750 cases for MUFON; I have assisted in the investigation of countless others, recruiting and training Field Investigators and by assisting Peter Davenport of the National UFO Reporting Center and William Puckett of UFOs Northwest. I have lectured at major conferences across the country and once in Paris. I have appeared on countless internet radio interviews, a TV gig or two and I have written two books. I have always proudly talked about my position in MUFON. Right now, I have a YouTube interview which garnered over 19,000 views in 4 weeks. But I really believe I could walk in with a Gray on each arm and hand out pieces of memory metal as souvenirs, but in MUFON I would be invisible. I am living proof that “No man is a prophet in his own kingdom.” It is hard to watch an organization that you once served proudly become an income-generating entertainment company. And then you just can’t do it anymore.

It is not my way to draw attention to my background or accomplishments. There are many in MUFON with far greater than mine. I am describing myself fully so that others may relate to how disconnected I have felt while working as a State Director while watching MUFON move away from being an investigative organization to what will probably be a UFO entertainment franchise business. I draw that conclusion because I was one of the six State Directors who was interviewed at length by a business consultant.

That in-depth interview may be summarized simply: Have you incorporated your MUFON organization? How much income do you generate as a MUFON State organization, and how much can you donate?

I am hoping that this letter may be a catalyst for real change in MUFON’s direction if it is not already too late. The influence of the money-worshipping corporate mentality is already damaging our country like cancer; what is happening to MUFON doesn’t seem much different.

It appears the focus is so concentrated on income generation that anything like investigative integrity is just an anachronism. Caring about investigative integrity has become a nuisance. I am providing evidence in the form of one example.

The Special Assignments Team (SAT) was asked to investigate “part” of a very dubious 1946 UFO Crash case submitted by Paola Harris. Who ever heard of partiallyinvestigating a UFO report, especially when the key piece of evidence is a cast aluminum windmill pump part that is being presented as an artifact stolen from the interior of a crashed UFO in 1945? The SAT found critical investigative failures. She claimed the site was deliberately planted with noxious weeds that were genetically modified by the Government to deter UFO researchers from exploring the alleged crash site, and then on Harris’ own YouTube videos, we see the same group walking through the weeds wearing shorts. Apparently, they no longer needed to wear the full body isolation suits that look so “scientific” on camera. And the result? We got to watch Harris be given special status and an award at the Symposium. I have attached a report with evidence to support this statement. Please note that Frank Kimbler supplied the scientific data and he gave me full permission to use it as I see fit. I know that he would appreciate its inclusion herein. This is one example of many.

Within the Kevin Randle interview the reader is left with the suggestion that being a member of the Inner Circle is just about receiving a few perks. That was implied so that none of the readers would be too alarmed by having to imagine what happens when a cult leader who channels a 35,000-year-old Lemurian Warrior named Ramtha ascends to a position of authority in MUFON. I would point out that Marie Malzahn was an Inner Circle member of MUFON who worked as the Director of Investigations replacing Chuck Reever in 2010. So, every State Director should contemplate what happens if Ramtha is running UFO Investigations for MUFON, or if there are even stranger developments arising from recruitments to key positions in MUFON from the Inner Circle elite.

I know this situation has the potential for very bad outcomes because in 2011 when I was trying to assist an excellent new FI regain access to CMS after she was arbitrarily locked out, Director Malzahn ordered me to obey her or else. I chose the “or else.” After I returned in 2012 at the request of Dave MacDonald, I made peace with Ms. Malzahn. In 2013, she asked me if I could carry a gun in Nevada to help guard Dr. Steven Greer who requested armed bodyguards at the Symposium. Somewhere along the way she must have offended someone who had real influence because little was heard from her after that.

I will end with a cautionary tale to point out that the rest of the UFO community may not be quite as sold on MUFON’s supremacy in this field as we are led to believe. In 2010 my wife inherited a trip to Paris and while we were there I presented to Les Repas Ufologique. I told the story of my friend June Crain and immediately sold all my books. The Parisian Ufologists were very gracious and welcoming. The only disquieting moments occurred when they commented that they had not trusted MUFON for a long time. This has been a recurring theme in various places I have visited over the years; I could build trust personally with the audience and other researchers but there are always many people who don’t believe MUFON lives up to its avowed mission. The newest version of this arose on the Internet after the John Ventre scandal and the Kevin Randle interview; MUFON is now being called MUFONINO – MUFON In Name Only.

The value of MUFON has always been its reputation for integrity. But every time we endorse the Greer’s, the Maussan’s, the JZ Knight’s, and all the rest who will push anything for a buck, then MUFON has that much less integrity to lose. I know all the arguments; you must give the public what it wants to generate the most Symposium tickets sales. When you argue from a business perspective, the intangibles such as integrity, reputation or honor become sadly irrelevant.

It would be great if this is not true. I will always help anyone who asks me to assist their investigation whether they are in MUFON or not. It is with regret that I am resigning from MUFON, but I don’t see that I have an honorable alternative. We should all be on the same side and not divided into Elites and the Subservient. Morton Court is in session!

It appears "legal and constitutional expert" Sean David Morton has filed yet another meltdown of a motion with the federal courts insisting that he is indeed the judge and jury of Morton Court.

This latest motion was filed on June 19th just minutes before Morton failed to appear for his criminal sentencing in federal court.  There is a federal warrant for Morton's arrest.

The motion, entitled "Morton court at Federal District Court Central California", is a dizzying parade of legal nonsense which Morton has consistently bombarded the courts with.

Here are just a few problems with Morton's myriad of claims...

1. Morton claims he is not a 14th Amendment citizen and not a U.S. citizen, instead claiming he is a citizen of the Republic of California.  If this is the case, then why has he ever bothered filing tax returns, having a U.S. issued passport, or ever appeared in any court let alone filed motions with a court he claims has no authority over him?

You don't have to be a U.S. citizen to fall under the rule of law in this country.  Were that the case then anyone who isn't a citizen, by Morton's flawed logic, couldn't be arrested or tried.

2.  Morton objects to everything, but cites no legal precedent for his objections.  This motion would make a college freshman thinking of going to law school blush with embarrassment. 

3.  Morton states he is withdrawing his original plea, but did this after he'd already been convicted.  You cannot order and eat an entire burger and later claim it had onions on it and because of that you want a new one - okay, a shoddy example but you get the meaning.  Once you're convicted you have to appeal the conviction, you cannot simply scream "do over" after you've had your day in court.

4.  The bulk of this silly motion contains objections by Morton which the courts have already ruled on.  Morton fought every thing he could dream up and none of it passed muster.  Morton is not a brilliant legal mind by any stretch of the imagination and he clearly does not have even an elementary grasp on legal proceedings or concepts.  One cannot simply interpret the law to fit their own agenda or cry foul because they disagree with an unfavorable outcome.  Legal arguments require legal proof.

5.  Morton claims the judge in the case is retaliating against him.  Unlike most UFO and psychic circles, in this realm you have to provide clear and convincing evidence of your claims.  Morton has a history of not proving claims he still likes to make.

6.  How did Morton ever publish a book?  His writing in this motion is bizarre, disjointed and comes off as something a ten year old would write if they got their hands on a legal lexicon.  The writing is simply horrid and painful, again absent of any legally sound or legally reasonable argument.

7.  Morton objects to military tribunals as outlined in the Constitution even though he was not prosecuted in a military tribunal.  Perhaps Morton is attempting to establish he should've been tried in a military tribunal because he claims to not be a U.S. citizen?  It's rather mind boggling, really.

8.  Morton objects to Article III but then cites the Fourth Amendment.  three, four, close enough I suppose.

9.  Morton states he reserves his right to be protected by the Constitution, yet continues to claim he is not a citizen.

In the end it's all just more of Morton trying to create smoke screens and hoping the court makes a mistake or he clumsily stumbles over some legal ground in his favor.

Morton's track record in court is abysmal and he's lost or had dismissed every case he's been involved in whether it be civil or criminal.  Each loss comes with Morton giving excuse after excuse for the defeat, and these excuses never incorporate anything resembling the truth.  It's always the fault of a filing error, a bad judge, another person, some legal maneuvering, and so on. 

The first rule of going to court is to make sure you have competent and experienced legal representation on your side.  Never defend yourself in a criminal case, that's simply naive and very foolish.  Avoid so-called "legal and constitutional experts" giving you advice, especially when they claim to be psychic and do not possess a law degree or legal license.

Peru Scientists Call Maussan-Gaia Mummy a Fraud

As many are aware, known UFO hoax promoter Jaime Maussan and Internet subscription website Gaia.com announced the finding of what they allege is a non-human mummy found in Peru.

Many have called the promotion of the Nazca mummy nothing more than a fraud perpetrated for financial gain.  Maussan alleges the mummies (yes, there are at least three known at this point) have been studied for the past eight months, but Maussan and Gaia.com have offered little scientific evidence of their claims.

Instead, advertisements selling a monthly subscription service to Gaia.com to view information have been offered and a conference offering more information is forthcoming for those willing to pay $300 to $350 per person to attend - this price doesn't include hotel, travel, or a $50 dinner to "meet Gaia TV personalities".  The supply of evidence for claims of commercial exploitation is plentiful.

Now comes the World Congress on Mummy Studies, a scientific organization calling the find a fraud and those behind it "an irresponsible organized campaign of disinformation."

The Lima, Peru based scientists involved with the statement also allege those behind the mummy have violated the law and call for legal action.

The statement calls the alleged mummy exploitation "criminal abuse of corpses for petty ends" and the abuse of such corpses not only "violates human dignity in a profound way", but also is a "predation" on Peruvian heritage as well as humanity.  Gaia.com and Maussan are being accused of a serious act of cultural misappropriation for commercial exploitation.

Sixteen Days of Hide n' Seek

It's been sixteen days since bunk psychic and convicted felon Sean David Morton has been on the run.  Morton failed to appear on June 19th for his criminal sentencing stemming from his conviction on over fifty felony charges in a tax scheme that netted over half-a-million dollars.  Morton's wife, Melissa Ann Morton (aka Melissa Thomson), was also convicted and her sentencing is scheduled for August 24th.

There's been no real news on the whereabouts of Sean David Morton, though he allegedly was in the Los Angeles area the day he was supposed to be in court for sentencing.

A number of people speculated whether Morton would show up in court for his sentencing considering he was looking at 87 months in federal prison.  ufowatchdog.com did receive an image of a conversation allegedly involving Morton where it shows Morton stating in response to going to prison, "Never going to happen.  This is very far from being over."

Now instead of facing 87 months, Morton is looking at the possibility of an additional five years in prison for absconding from his sentencing.  Morton could have shaved a little over a year off his sentence for good behavior, as inmates can earn up to 54 days of early release per year served.  Morton is considered a fugitive and a warrant was issued for his arrest, which now means the FBI is involved in tracking Morton down.

Recently, a You Tube interview with Morton was released where Morton defends his actions and continues to claim he is being targeted by the government in a conspiracy.  As usual, the hosts of this video ask no pointed or tough questions, instead opting to let Morton ramble on.  It appears one of the hosts is close friends with Morton.  During the filming of the interview, a cameraman walks off the set in protest.  Not a good start to a new You Tube channel...you're not missing anything other than two people who have decided to cover the paranormal with powder puff standards and delivery.

In the interview, Morton claims he is not a U.S. citizen and the courts have no jurisdiction over him.  This raises many questions including why did Morton ever file any tax returns, why did he appear in court during his trial, and why is he petitioning U.S. courts to vacate his conviction basing such on arguments of his rights under the U.S. Constitution were violated?

It makes zero sense and is obvious to anyone this is just more in a rather long and tiring line of disjointed and nonsensical arguments from Morton.  It seems to be the fault of everyone else but Morton, according to Morton.

Mummy, Mummy, Money

When the alleged Nazca Mummy was announced by Gaia.com, it automatically generated a lot of 

suspicion with many calling it a publicity stunt to create a revenue stream.  What also generated a lot of suspicion, not to mention calls of an outright hoax, was the involvement of known UFO hoax promoter Jaime Maussan.

Now many are claiming a conference being produced by UFO enthusiast Paola Harris is just the beginning of a long parade of conferences surrounding the release of information on the alleged Nazca mummy.

Harris is the producer of Star Works USA, a conference where for a mere $300 to $350 per person, you can meet the "TV personalities" of Gaia.com.  For $50 more you can have lunch with the presenters.  But wait, there's more...

Your host for this conference is none other than disgraced Roswell investigator, known liar, and Roswell Slides supporter Don Schmitt.  You'll hear UFO tall tales from the credibility challenged Clifford Stone.  You'll also get to hear "the latest news" from Jaime Maussan and Gaia.com on the Nazca Mummy.

Maussan has been involved in a number of UFO/paranormal hoaxes going so far as to continue endorsing the hoaxes as real in spite of clear evidence to the contrary. Here are some of the bunk claims Maussan has made:

The Roswell Slides:  Maussan said his expert examined the slides supposedly showing an alien body and proclaimed it was indeed an extraterrestrial - this expert would be none other than Dr. Jose de Juesus Zalce Benitez, the same person who is examining the Nazca Mummy .  A group of researchers got together and deciphered a blurry placard in the photo using free online software to show it was a museum display of a child's body.  Maussan helped produce the BeWitness event held in Mexico City and sold out tickets to the event about the Roswell Slides and had a pay-per-view attached to it.  The whole affair was absurdly embarrassing.

Reed UFO Fraud:  Who can forget the story of the guy who killed an alien and stuck it in a freezer?  Maussan latched onto this tale and proclaimed it to have been backed with a scientific examination of an alien device.  In spite of never providing a shred of verifiable scientific evidence and "Dr." Reed and his cohorts being exposed as frauds, Maussan continued promoting this hoax as real.

Demon Fairy

Demon Fairy:  Maussan presented this small creature (pictured right)  allegedly paying $10,000 for it and made grand claims about it being real.  Turns out it was made of different animal parts glued together with wood.  Even after being exposed as fake, Maussan continued insisting it had to be real. 

Metepec Creature:  Supposedly caught in a trap, this small creature was acquired by Maussan who proudly paraded inconclusive DNA results as fact...that was until the creature was identified and the hoaxer admitted to making the creature.

Alien by the fence photo:  Endorsed and promoted by Maussan, only to be yet another in a long line of fakes.

MUFON Discredits Maussan:  In a documentary showing a former MUFON director in Mexico investigating cases, Maussan makes an appearance.  The former director and Maussan meet with a witness who has digital photos of a UFO and tells the story of seeing the craft.  MUFON examines the images and determine them to be a cut and paste job, which they clearly are.  Maussan chooses to believe the witness instead.

Start watching the video at 16:30 and go from there.  Not only does Maussan discount the digital evidence and fact that the time stamp on the photos contradicts the witness account, Maussan brings in his own expert who says everything to support Maussan's view that the photos are real.  This incident exposes the problem with Maussan's credibility and the fact that he'd rather believe someone's word than the contradicting evidence.  You go where the evidence leads you, not where you want the evidence to lead.

Further in the video is another example of taking an investigation to the end showing that a light in the night sky and a morphing UFO are readily explainable, unless you're sensationalist Maussan.

Daylight Disc Footage:  Maussan claims he received an amazing video of a huge daylight disc over Mexico City in 1996.  Maussan immediately began promoting this video as the greatest UFO footage ever.  The video was later shown to be a CGI composite where the UFO's outline is visible through solid buildings.

Some defend Maussan as a well meaning but extremely gullible journalist, others view his antics as nothing more than a shameless self promoter out for fortune and fame.  Some believe Maussan is somewhere in between.  What is certain is a number of well known hoaxes have his name attached to them.

If one mummy wasn't enough for you, it looks like Maussan will be showing off at least two more supposed alien bodies he claims "are not human".  Apparently these mummies supposedly originated from the same location as the Nazca Mummy.

Maussan claims he and Gaia.com have been investigating these mummies for eight months now.  Yet all that has been seen are testimonials and some eye candy in the form of a CT scan.

Maussan has been known to proclaim he possesses scientific proof while dropping the names of experts, but he has very little in the realm of delivery on such claims, if any.  This certainly was the claim made during the Reed UFO Hoax when Maussan stated the bogus alien device had been examined and it incorporated nanotechnology.  No supporting evidence or the name of the lab was ever released.

Gaia.com had a golden opportunity to establish an organization that could have balanced the incredible with the credible.  Instead, Gaia.com decided it would be best to move in the direction of celebrating the usual suspects and giving those personalities a platform to spread their nonsense. The mere association with the likes of David Wilcock, Corey Goode, Jaime Maussan and other such characters automatically cast a long shadow of suspicion if not outright dismissal of anything their names might be attached to.

But Gaia.com is clearly not hurting from any of these personalities, and they know it.  According to their own website, Gaia.com (a publicly traded company) saw a 61% increase in digital subscribers this year and this doesn't count the last few months.  It appears there is no such thing as bad publicity anymore.  It's likely only a matter of time before Gaia.com strays over into the convention business as well, if it hasn't already.

With an average monthly subscription price of $9.95, about the same as a standard Netflix monthly subscription, a 61% increase in subscribers is likely a nice chunk of revenue.  Gaia.com was formerly known as a company called Gaiam, which specialized in yoga gear and was sold last year for over $100mil with the company focusing on promoting Gaia.com's subscription service.

Gaia.com has been aggressively advertising on social media platforms like Facebook with ads linking to stories such as this nonsense.  Recently there appears to be a departure from linking these sort of stories and focusing on ads about spirituality, wellness, and meditation.

Clearly Gaia.com's mission is its bottom line.  The cost of promoting personalities with poor track records or credibility problems doesn't seem to bother them, and neither does the collateral damage it brings to extraordinary topics that are worthy of serious examination and not selfish exploitation.
